This Lacquer Filter Paper Series, created on-site at Treasure Hill Artist Village, centers on color as its core language. At the intersection of Eastern and Western cultures, a spectrum of red tones is employed to echo the theme "Formosa MIX". Amid our differences—of skin tone, ethnicity, class, age, and gender—we are prompted to ask: Do we all feel red the same way? Blood is red. Pain is red. Love, too, is red. In these large-scale monochrome lacquer paintings, wrinkled crystal fragments formed through the drying process bloom like flowers from the far shore—unfolding in a deep, meditative field of color.
